Knots of Compassion is a story of women weavers, who have overcome the social stigma of untouchability through their unique art of weaving skills. It also shows how these women could bridge the caste barrier by being financial independent. With the love and compassion of Jaipur Rugs’s visionary leader, Mr Nanda Kishore Chaudhury (NKC), how these empowered women are now breaking the glass ceiling and getting recognized globally for their designs in Carpet Industry.
In this journey, he faced many challenges from his own family members and community, who opposed the idea of working with lower caste people. This did not stop him to gain trust and love from more than 40,000 artisans spread across five states, who work with dignity today.
The man who revolutionized traditional carpet industry in India, NK Chaudhary established JRF to enable economic prosperity among destitute communities. Starting with one vision, two looms and an extraordinary journey, he was able to connect people around the world with the timeless craftsmanship of Indian artisans.
It was an accidental discovery when I had visited Jaipur city for film festival. Knots of compassion tour was an exceptional experience I have done till date. You meet genuine people and will you know how one man’s compassion has changed weavers life for better. We had great conversations about the weavers challenges and their inspiring success stories. Icing on the cake was meeting and interacting with Jaipur Rugs Founder Mr Nand Kishore Chaudhary.
