This ‘scratch’ performance took place at the Brighton Spiegel Tent May 2018 produced by the XR Circus project: Research into circus and immersive & interactive tech.
Be my (body) guest is a digitally enhanced circus piece by aerialist and PONToon project PhD student Carolyn Watt aka Twisted Nymph, supported by XR Circus creative technologists Jeremiah Ambrose and projectionist Giles Thacker.
Be my (body) guest is inspired by Carolyn’s PONToon project PhD pilot study where participants were proud of what their body can achieve rather than how it looks and the idea of doing something for yourself rather than being watched.
The audience are invited to experience Be my (body) guest in a number of ways, choosing to watch the aerialist or be the aerialist by: participating in the 360 immersive headset experience available throughout the duration of the evening, watching the live performance choosing to focus on the aerialist or on the live projection, watching the live performance from the point of view of the aerialist via 360 Facebook Live on a smart phone.
This PhD is supported and part funded by the Interreg 5A France (Channel) England innovation project PONToon (Partnership Opportunities using New Technologies fostering sOcial and ecOnomic inclusioN) June 2017 – November 2020, led by Professor Joan Farrer from the University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries
